We’re excited to share a new strand of what we do at Distrikt Energy: professional roof tiling. You can engage us purely for roofing on new build sites, or choose our combined roofing + solar PV package for a streamlined, single-contract solution. Either way, you get the same hallmarks we’re known for—careful planning, tidy sites, and handovers you can trust.
Why combine roofing and solar?
For housebuilders and developers, the interface between the roofer and the PV contractor is where programme risk, quality issues and warranty wrangling can creep in. Bringing both trades under one roof (pun intended) removes that friction.
The benefits in practice
One point of accountability: One contract, one programme, one QA process. Variations and changes are managed transparently without trades blaming each other.
Programme certainty: We sequence tiling, roof penetrations, under-tile trays and cable routes together. Fewer returns, fewer re-visits, fewer delays.
Quality at the junctions: Properly coordinated detailing around roof hooks/rails, trays, flashings and penetrations delivers a neat finish and long-term weathering performance.
Aligned warranties: Roofing and PV mounting interfaces are designed and installed by the same team, simplifying warranty ownership and future claims.
Safety and access efficiencies: Shared scaffolding, shared RAMS, one set of inductions and toolbox talks—less duplication, better control.
Cost and carbon: Fewer site visits and re-works, tighter logistics and less waste.
What we deliver
Whether you need a standalone roofing team or a combined package, our scope covers planning, delivery and aftercare.
Pre-construction
Design coordination: Tile selection, fixing specifications to BS 5534, ventilation and moisture management to BS 5250, dry-fix details to BS 8612.
PV integration design (if applicable): In-roof (e.g. Viridian, GSE) or on-roof systems, structural and wind-uplift checks, MCS 012-compliant interfaces, cable routes, fire-stopping and inverter/isolator locations.
Buildability reviews: Set-out drawings, plot-by-plot programmes, sample bays/pilot plots, and site-specific method statements.
NHBC coordination: We work to NHBC Standards and liaise early with site teams and warranty providers to agree details.
Construction
Roof tiling: Underlay, battens, dry-fix ridge/hip/verge systems, abutments and flashings—installed neatly and to spec.
PV works (if included): In-roof trays or on-roof rails, module install, DC stringing, labelling and handover to our electrical team for commissioning.
Sequencing that sticks: Our roofing supervisor coordinates both trades, so penetrations, trays and cable routes are installed at the right time—before tiles are fully closed up.
Quality control: Digital QA with photo records at key hold points, followed by snag prevention checks before plots are offered for inspection.
Handover & aftercare
3-way sign-off: Site manager, clerk of works and our supervisor sign off each plot (we’re happy to run a pilot plot first to lock down the standard).
As-built package: Drawings, product data, warranties, maintenance guidance and PV commissioning records (where relevant).
Responsive aftercare: Clear contacts and service levels for any post-completion support.
Two service options
1) Standalone roofing
Need a reliable roofing team to hit programme and hand over cleanly? We’ll take the roofing package and integrate with your M&E/PV contractor, coordinating penetrations and details so they don’t have to come back and disturb finished areas.
2) Combined roofing + solar PV
Let us take full responsibility for both. We’ll handle:
Roofing design and install
In-roof or on-roof PV integration
DC/AC coordination and commissioning
Consolidated QA and warranties
This is particularly attractive for volume housebuilders who want fewer suppliers on site, fewer clashes, and predictable delivery.
Technical competence you can rely on
Standards-led installation: BS 5534 (slating/tiling), BS 5250 (condensation control), BS 8612 (dry-fix), manufacturer guidance and NHBC requirements.
PV integration know-how: In-roof systems (e.g. Viridian, GSE) and on-roof (e.g. Renusol), MCS 012 interfaces, wind-load calculations and watertight detailing.
Site safety: ISO 45001-driven processes, SSIP accredited, shared RAMS across roofing and PV teams, tidy and secure work areas.
Document control: Plot-specific checklists, photo QA, neat as-built packs and homeowner information where required.
Why this matters now
Energy standards are tightening and PV on new homes is rapidly becoming the norm. Coordinating roofing and PV from the outset makes compliance simpler, improves build quality and speeds handover. For developers, the combined approach offers fewer moving parts, lower risk, and better customer outcomes.
