Beith Juniors Football Club
Client: Beith Community Trust
Technology: Solar PV + Battery Storage
Distrikt Energy were contacted by Beith Community Trust, who were looking for a partner to support their ambitions to make their operation at Meadowside Park Pavilion more energy efficient.
Using a modest amount of energy during the day, the majority of electricity consumed by the client was in the evening, running floodlights for football pitches. Whilst costs had had been mitigated by replacing existing floodlights with modern LED units, energy costs were still considerable.
The design team at Distrikt Energy set about designing a system which would generate and store enough electricity during daylight hours, to power the lighting during hours of darkness.
The solution was a 12.3kWp solar PV array, installed with a 25kWh 3 phase battery storage system. The system generates clean power during hours of daylight, which meets all of the electrical demand of the buildings, whilst storing sufficient energy within the battery storage system, to power the floodlights with green electricity in the evenings.
This system has provided a cost effective solution for the football club, significantly reducing running costs, and reducing their carbon footprint in the process.
