Coldham Solar & Wind Farm - Security Infrastructure
Client: Scottish Power Renewables
Technology: Security Infrastructure & Earthing
Distrikt Energy were engaged by Scottish Power Renewables to deliver a package of security and safety works at their Coldham Wind & Solar Farm in Wisbech.
Scope of Works
Our works included the design and construction of 2.4m high palisade fencing around key switchgear and inverter blocks, providing secure protection for critical infrastructure. Vehicle and pedestrian access gates were incorporated into the design to maintain operational flexibility.
Within the fenced perimeter, we installed hardstanding areas to improve access and maintenance conditions. To ensure the ongoing safety and compliance of the site, we also designed and installed a dedicated earthing system, safeguarding the installation for years to come.
Challenges and Delivery
The programme was especially challenging, as the solar farm had to be powered down during the works at the height of summer generation. This required meticulous planning and close coordination with the client to minimise downtime and deliver the works swiftly.
Despite the constraints, our team — supported by a reliable supply chain — delivered the project safely, on budget, and ahead of schedule.
Outcome
Improved site security with robust 2.4m palisade fencing and controlled access.
Enhanced safety through the installation of a new earthing system.
Delivery achieved under challenging programme conditions with minimal disruption to the client.
This project demonstrates Distrikt Energy’s ability to deliver specialist works on operational renewable energy assets, working flexibly to meet client needs while maintaining our commitment to safety, quality, and timely delivery.
